Well-made artificial jewellery can last for years. Our pieces are plated with an anti-tarnish lacquer, but a little everyday care keeps that fresh-from-the-box glow.
1. Last on, first off
Put your jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and moisturiser have dried, and take it off before you remove your make-up. Chemicals are the biggest enemy of plating.
2. Keep it dry
Unless a piece is marked shower-safe, avoid water, sweat and steam. After wearing, wipe each piece gently with a soft, dry cotton cloth.
3. Store pieces separately
Keep every piece in its own pouch or in the Amirag keepsake box. This prevents scratches and stops kundan and pearls from rubbing against metal.
4. Seal out the air
Air and humidity cause oxidation. A zip-lock pouch with a small silica gel sachet works wonders, especially during the monsoon.
5. Never use harsh cleaners
Skip toothpaste, lemon or silver dip. A soft brush and a dry cloth are all you need.
6. Rotate your favourites
Giving pieces a rest between wears helps them keep their finish for longer.
